You may also find mysterious stone steles throughout the Abyss inscribed with stories about the kingdom from the King's perspective.
Both viewpoints will give you a better picture of the world and the fate that befell it.

I'd also recommend talking to the Princess at Base Camp! I'm sure she's eager to share her thoughts with you.

When the King vanished, he sealed away the very concept of language from this world.
This left everyone unable to speak or write.
Communication has been reduced to gestures, facial expressions, and generic grunts or cries.

In that way, people still retained their voices, even if they couldn't use actual language.

While we can easily explain what happened with words, you can imagine how tough it's been for our heroes, even with the Princess's support.
Since we as players can read the game's menus and such as we play, I'd encourage you to imagine how the heroes themselves navigate these challenges without the benefit of direct communication.

Without language, learning more about their backgrounds and character traits may seem impossible...
But given enough time, you'll get to know more about these silent heroes, their personalities, and what's on their minds.

This game focuses on action, with the story interwoven between battle segments as seamlessly as possible.
